Thank you.
Now you do realize this report contradicts your assessment?
He said he saw Mr Arbery in video of the house break in.
Edit - correction he said Arbery was in the video... I guess I am inferring he saw them..... My mistake... Bear in mind I am scrolling this on my phone..
According to multiple media reports - he had prior history with Mr Arbery (which seem prejudicial - so I won't cite) so he knew him by sight.
So he was not chasing down a guy simply for running down the street. He was chasing someone he had reason to believe was involved in a burglary - which is legal under Georgia law. (And as I said early in this post - probably a bad idea).

Actually it doesn't
Quote:He said he saw Mr Arbery in video of the house break in.
No it doesn't . The video shows him at a construction site fo 3 minutes which isn't against he law .Nor did he take anything . Also the reports of burglary are all bullshit
https://abcnews.go.com/US/video-appears-...d=70609635
Quote:Arbery’s family's attorneys says they believe the video, obtained by ABC News, does show the former football player inside the under-construction home, but they emphasize that he wasn’t breaking the law.
"Our office has reviewed the surveillance video which appears to show a person, believed to be Ahmaud Arbery, entering a property under construction," the attorneys said in a statement. "The individual remains on the property for under 3 minutes before continuing to jog down the road. This video is consistent with the evidence already known to us. Ahmaud Arbery was out for a jog. He stopped by a property under construction where he engaged in no illegal activity and remained for only a brief period. Ahmaud did not take anything from the construction site. He did not cause any damage to the property."
Quote:Ahmaud’s actions at this empty home under construction were in no way a felony under Georgia law. This video confirms that Mr. Arbery’s murder was not justified and the actions of the men who pursued him and ambushed him were unjustified," the statement added.
Quote:According to police, the McMichaels say they believed Arbery resembled a suspect allegedly seen breaking into homes in their neighborhood, but police say there have been no reports of burglaries or thefts in that area in nearly two months.
Quote:According to multiple media reports - he had prior history with Mr Arbery (which seem prejudicial - so I won't cite) so he knew him by sight.
Which only makes him look worst
Quote:So he was not chasing down a guy simply for running down the street. He was chasing someone he had reason to believe was involved in a burglary - which is legal under Georgia law. (And as I said early in this post - probably a bad idea
He was chasing a guy who had not committed a crime who chased illegally and killed
Hell even he people who owned the site think his killing was bullshit
Quote:"First, and most important, the English family -- the homeowners -- want Ahmaud Arbery's parents to know that they are very sorry for the loss of their son and they are praying for them.
Second, it is crucial to understand that the English family -- the homeowners -- were not part of what the McMichaels did. The first accounts suggested a link between the McMichaels and the homeowners, but there is none. The English family had no relationship with the McMichaels and did not even know what had occurred until after Mr. Arbery's death was reported to them.
After seeing Mr. Arbery's photo in news reports, Larry English did not even think Mr. Arbery was the person that appears in this video. Even if it had been, however, Mr. English would never have sought a vigilante response, much less one resulting in a tragic death."

The only video of Arbery of which I’m aware is that he walked into a house that was under construction, looked around and left. Do you have a link to any others (bearing in mind that there is no evidence of Arbery committing a crime in that neighbourhood)?
I’d be glad if you could cite McMichael’s ‘prior history’ with Arbery, prejudicial or not.
In Georgia, it is NOT legal to chase someone unless you’ve witnessed them commit a crime. The only thing Arbery appears to be guilty of is misdemeanor trespass.

Once again, there were actually no burglaries in the nieghbourhood in the month plus prior to the shooting. And this comes from the police of the area.
And, in addition, here's the relevant statute in the Georgia State Law books about citizen's arrest, bold mine (§ 17-4-60):
Quote:A private person may arrest an offender if the offense is committed in his presence or within his immediate knowledge. If the offense is a felony and the offender is escaping or attempting to escape, a private person may arrest him upon reasonable and probable grounds of suspicion.
And since there was no burglary in the neighbourhood at the time, it could not possibly have been committed within the McMichael's presence or within their immediate knowledge.
And, even if that was the case, they still did it wrong, because they should have subdued him, called the police, and waited for them to apprehend him. That is the procedure for a lawful citizen's arrest. Arbery was unarmed, and therefore, there was no legal justification for shooting him. For more information, here's a local criminal defense attorney breaking down the law and explaining why what they did is actually not legal under Georgia law.

And yes - that is one side of the story.
It does seem plausable when looking at the video. Mr Arbry does go for the gun in the video.
I don't know.
Nobody here does. Anyone on this forim who says they KNOW what happened in this case is either a fool or a liar.

Which is a bit odd considering that, from the video, it looks like he only goes for the gun after the first shot is fired, which would seem to imply that it was Ahmaud who was trying to act in self defense and not the McMichaels.

The problem with the video is there are several times that you can't see what is going on.
The video rarely tells the whole story.
