-Bent bars into curvy shapes over the anvil.
-Put multiple folds into a flat bar.
This stuff is SO cool!

Whatcha using for heat?
Propane. I was going to go full traditional and use coal or coke, but the local Powers That Be get all weird about burning coal in a residential area.

When will my sword be ready?
Based on the current state of my learning curve, not sooner that 2035.

Bet you could speed that up by going with bronze, combo of rail and lost wax casting. Alexander conquered the world with kopis and dory.

Not that expensive. I can run the forge wide open for a little more than a dollar (US) an hour.
Not sure what you mean by ‘oxidizer’.

Ah. No, I’m getting 2400F as is, which is sufficient for right now.

The flame - not the workpiece?
...
You must be doing smaller stuff... Anything bigger than 10mm or so - and I go right for the oxy/acetylene....
Propane would take forever....

It doesn’t take forever. I can get a 20mm bar to forge temp in about two minutes. I can spare the time.
And the 2400 is for the workpiece, assuming my pyrometer isn’t lying to me.

It is not that hot.
If it were - striking it with a hammer would be awfully exciting - as you would only be 100 degrees or so from melting - and in my experience you can't get that kind of heat out of straight propane....
