The soul is like your higher personality, it's the part of you that knows what you really want, and can possibly, depending on the person, be consciously guided. The soul is better described through poetry than dry explanation.

Well, to put it in binary terms, the mind is your left brain, while the soul is your right brain. But that's a really crude explanation. I'm assuming you're familiar with the specific functions of each brain hemisphere.
