Christian movies you actually like

RE: Christian movies you actually like
I’m not sure how we’re defining Christian Movie, but I’d say the films of Robert Bresson and Andrew Tarkovsky would be a good place to start. Also a few films about Jesus like King of Kings, Last Temptation of Christ and The Gospel According to Matthew. Or The Decalogue, of we’re counting miniseries as a movie.
Comparing the Universal Oneness of All Life to Yo Mama since 2010.

M'kay. Add Ryan's Daughter and The Quiet Man. No Irish stereotype was omitted. It's in context of the times, but still scary to realise the power held by the parish priest. That was done in both films. It was Trevor  Howard in Ryan's daughter and Ward Bond in The Quiet Man. I still love The Quiet Man because it has Maureen O'Hara, a  magnificent specimen of titian haired Irish beauty.  ( do they still say "colleen" for an Irish Girl?) The film was shot in the Republic Of Ireland. Together the two films show the less charming truth of priests in Ireland. Mercifully, I understand times have changed.

PS have you read Angela's Ashes?  Worth a glace if you haven't.

I enjoyed Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

That new movie "Spencer" looks like it could become a decent Christmas movie.

Also, the new movie "Benedetta" is a very good take about the life of nuns. It gives a more realistic take on it.

Like this scene in which the mother superior explains to some random woman why she can't be a nun.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

A true blue Xian movie I actually enjoyed:

2 Days ago: "The Keys To The kingdom" (1940) stars Gregory Peck as a Catholic missionary in China in the early twentieth century. A stunning supporting cast. I would have liked to have seen more Chinese actors.

It's a Wonderful Life.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

I can remember seeing that on TV at about age 14. IE still a believer.

The film ended with this piece of pious sophistry:

"For the believer, no explanation is necessary. For the non believer, no explanation is possible"

A couple years ago on a contract assignment, a gentleman there suggested Angela's Ashes as I was listening to audio books while working (as was he). Amazing book...I should read/listen again.
