A bit of a contradiction there, innit? Although, that said, given that said premier has tended to have a fairly lax view of handling the pandemic from the beginning, I suspect that the convoy gave him a semi-decent excuse to do what he was already inclined to do anyway. 

2) COVID-19 may be declining, but how long will that last, and will that decline keep up when restrictions are lifted or will it start to flare up again? It happened the first time America tried reopening, and it's still happening. And if you want to ask when I think we should be able to reopen safely, I'd have to say, I don't know, ask one of the actual experts.

3) Yes, there has been division in communities over the vaccine since before the convoy started its protests. Unfortunately, it's mostly due to the spread of misinformation and people being primed to not listen to those who actually know what they're talking about.

This is how politicians speak. If the Premiere was already inclined to do this and this gave him the extra push needed, that's still a win and we'll take it.

The vaccines likely would have been a route to herd immunity if enough people actually took them reach herd immunity. With Delta, it would have been something like 80%, so if 20% refused to take it, we wouldn’t reach it.

And, bear in mind, a lot of the “misinformation” that Sung, Khem, and I posted was backed up by peer-reviewed research into the vaccine. And when you tried the same thing instead of people just talking shit on YouTube, you managed to conveniently misread the results of the study.

Also, unlike you, I tend to draw a difference between information that’s out of date and outright misinformation. A lot of “the narrative” worked well for the first variants, but given that omicron was different from the alpha and delta variants, some things had to change to work.

To quote John Maynard Keynes (allegedly) “when the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do sir?” The mainstream narrative changes because we find out more about the diseases, either because time passes and things become clearer, or because a new variant comes along and changes the rules. And what has your lot (and if not exactly your lot, the lot you’ve fallen in with) been doing about the pandemic? Well, since a few weeks after shit got real, you’ve been doing everything in your power to downplay how serious it is and decry any and all measures to try and contain the spread. I suppose it might mean you’ve been more consistent over the last two years, but consistency is only a virtue if you aren’t a total fuck-up.
