Home Elevator
RE: Home Elevator
I would think it's more like riding one of those tubes you use at the drivethru at the bank. Wink

I think it's really cool that you have a home elevator. Were the construction logistics difficult? Or was it "built in"?

The existing stairs had to be removed and the stairwell modified to accommodate the elevator tube. A vestibule had to be built in the attic. Construction and electrical work came to about $15,000. The entire project cost was just under $75,000.

Sounds like a quite a project!

It was worth every penny I paid. If not for this elevator, I would have had to sell my house and moved into an assisted living center. I have serious mobility issues and can no longer deal with stairs.

I brought several items up to the attic yesterday. I couldn't have done this if I still relied on stairs.  Great

Now that my Automatic Mahjong Table is installed, I needed a couple of swivel chairs brought down from the attic. Much to my disappointment, they were a bit too big to fit into the elevator. I had to have my houseboy bring them down through the library, which was a bit difficult because he had to come down a spiral staircase. I would have been afraid to do this even if I was his age, but he got them down without any mishaps.  Great

I recently had a landscaper come over to give me an estimate on some tree work I want done this month. When I mentioned that I had an elevator in my house, he was eager to have a look at it. He never saw a home elevator before. He rode it from the cellar to the attic and down again. Afterward, he was as giddy as a kid who had taken his first amusement park ride.  Good one

A home elevator is so much cooler than one of those chairs that glides up and down the stairs.

I would ask what things you need to have moved upstairs (or down) and then do it one by one.  LOL
