A Qurannic account of the death of a heretic is as much to be trusted as an American police report of an officer-involved shooting. And for the same reasons.

Digging up decade old threads is such a great way to fan the flames on your religion Kloro. There's a reason these threads died. I feel sure you can figure it out.

That's not a Quranic account, lol. Probably I shouldn't blame you for this newbie mistake, 99% of people here don't know the difference between the Qur'an and the hadiths, but they still allow themselves (you included) to make statements about Islam with blatant self-assurance.
Please, anyone who doesn't know the basics of Islam should stop trying to look like a smart-ass and criticize it.
I accept your utterly trivial and irrelevant correction.
More to the point, I wasn’t criticizing Islam, but referencing the adage that history is written by the victors - both the Islamic religion and USian law enforcement have a vested interest in their respective versions of events being accepted.

Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf committed incitment and publicly encouraged terrorist acts against Muslims, by doing so he also violated a treaty made between Muslims and the Jews around the Medina. In short, he committed treason, and treason was punishable by death. As you can see, the guy wasn't an innocent critic.
You're really working to argue that your favourite fantasy novel is a depiction of reality, aren't you. Do yourself a favour though, read up on the 7th century Arab invasions that lead to the creation of islam and the writing of the qu'ran. Learn the series of events that lead to a coalition of christian, jewish and zororastrian arabs bursting out of Arabia and wresting control of the whole of the fertile crescent from a dying Persia and a heavily weakened Rome. It's a very different story from the qu'ran.
