They literally can't conduct any other business until they elect a Speaker.

Wonder if they are getting paid??

They have to keep voting because your Constitution requires that the House have a Speaker chosen by its members.

True, but does that mean that they have to vote multiple times per day?

They can vote as often or as infrequently as they like, per the Constitution. But among that ‘other business’ Jackalope mentioned is the swearing in of new members. Until that happens, you effectively have no House of Representatives. Right now, it exists in a sort of political limbo.

They should come to some agreement with the Freedom Caucus instead of repeatedly banging their head against the wall. But then it wouldn't be the Republican leadership we know and love.

No, they should vote with the Democrats and elect Jeffries.

With McCarthy refusing to withdraw, I don’t think there can be any agreement with the Freedom Caucus - at least five of its members have said they won’t vote for him under any circumstances.

This is why I think that Trump is going to be elected in 2024 -- it will come down to a question of whom you hate more?

I’m starting to wonder if they could just briefly expel the Freedom Caucus. Not even forever, just for long enough to actually get anywhere on a vote. It’s probably not, but short of convincing 5 republicans to vote for Hakeem Jeffries just so they can get on with their lives, it might be the only way anyone gets anywhere.

9th vote also looks to be headed to another loss.

Here is exclusive video of Kevin McCarthy between votes.
