Sorta the peak time before digitization became the norm too, which took more shape in early 2000s

1990s was the last decade during which it was possible to pretend the US was on the whole a positive influence upon the world, even though in retrospect it is clear the root of America’s degradation since 2001 goes deep through the 1990s
