I could never understand how there seemed to be this one specific and very distinctive screaming sound effect in so many films, both new and old, and thought my mind must be playing tricks on me... but turns out not; that sound effect has a back story and a name.. the Wilhelm Scream... and its continued use in pretty much any film you can think of has apparently been a long running Hollywood in-joke.

Is might cognate with a moun in proto-Indo-European stem language? Otherwise one might think some other nouns that are cognate with Proto-Indo-European words would be even older.
