But I got to thinking ...
One, I've never actually burned a Bible - mostly because I just never had one handing at a campfire - or wherever I may have needed some kindling. And Two ... I never much cared.
Anyway the questions: Have you ever burned a Bible? If so why? If not - would you?
Obviously there is a certain stigma over burning books of any kind. Some would consider burning a book a futile expression and a sign of ignorance, but is it ignorance to burn a book that you know better than those who worship it? Could it not be immoral not to make an attempt to destroy an immoral book?
Thoughts? I have had thoughts of having a "Judge the Bible" day like Terry Jones did in March. If I actually go through with it and we find The Bible guilty, I have the music I'd want to score the burning.

@ all who say they would burn the Bible, if I'm not mistaken you are the ones who condemned the pastor in Florida who wanted to burn the Koran. Seems to me you enjoy a double standard where christians are concerned, shame on those who say they live by a right code, if however that is what you need to do to get your jollies by all means martyr the Bible.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Maybe when Christians are using any internationally known incident that criticises Christianity as an excuse to riot and kill random people, they'd tread more softly. For the record, if not for the fact that Muslims have suddenly developed the tendency to go apeshit at the slightest provocation, we'd have fewer compunctions against it. And besides, my idea was done as a direct response to Terry Jones' quran-burning, and I wanted to see how he would react.

where I'm concerned - your are indeed mistaken. I've never said word one about some pastor burning the Quran. In fact I'm sure the only remark I would've made would be to laugh - since both books are nearly identical in terms of immoral teaching and god-ordained brutal violence.
If a christian wants to burn the Quran - have at it ... I assure you, I will not be the one to protest the destruction of an equally wicked immoral old book. lol

For the record, I would rather the Christians burn the Que'ran than a more important one. If they burned Harry Potter, I'd be more pissed, and I don't even like it that much.

I wouldn't burn a bible simply out of respect for the theists who aren't ignorant fools and for those who do live quality, moral lives helping others. It's often easy to lump a group of people together, but to disrespect those who don't deserve it is wrong - in my opinion. As much as I disagree with the bible and affirm that it is all a myth, I reserve respect for those who devote their lives to an idea which gives them hope of a better tomorrow. We must remember that a large majority of those who consider themselves religious live in horrible life situations and are often times extremely uneducated.

I have burnt the bible and many so called "hoely texts"...they are just pieces of paper and as such not important.... besides I needed the potash for the compost bin.
Mind you ...I have the greatest respect for books in general and am still upset over the burning of the Library @ Alexandria!

I'd burn every bible and Que'ran in the world to have Alexandria's library back!

That brings up an interesting question.... say perhaps the entire world was entirely religion "free"... would it be ethical to burn all remaining "religious" texts in order to prevent the evils of religions from returning to the world? To me, obviously the trade-off would be worth it... but I can definitely see the argument that the destruction of any knowledge, whether it be science or religion is a very dangerous game.
