Rising crime in the UK
January 10, 2025 at 7:19 am
There has been a dramatic rise in crime in the UK in recent years, as well as in other countries. What could be the cause of this? There was a time when stabbings and acid attacks and other crimes were rare, but it seems that nowadays it's a case of another day another stabbing.
Whether it's "urban youths" (strange term, don't you think?) stealing phones, or individuals behaving in an aggressive, erratic way, there's always something in the news every day. It's also very worrying how many individuals these days are walking around wearing balaclavas.
It never used to be like this. I wonder what might have given rise to all this crime and violence.

I have the suspicion that you want to blame it on race.
This is a documentary about young people in Britain with ASBOs. (Nearly all of them are white.) It seems to me that they are not punished severely enough.

It says the video is unavailable. Never mind, anyway the whole ASBO thing is from quite a long time ago, I'm well aware of it. Yes most of them were white back then.

Crime is a complex social phenomenon. Looking for "the" cause to it seems awfully simplistic.
As for "urban youth" being a "strange term", doesn't most crime happen in urban areas? And isn't most committed by the under-30 demographic?

I guess a huge chunk of crime s done by younger people in towns and cities, as opposed to older people in villages and the countryside. That's just the way things naturally turn out.
But I do find it an odd term to use. It almost seems as though those who use it are trying to be politically correct or something.
Just a hunch though. I'm sure crime is more or less equal amongst all demographics. I just wish the news would report more crimes done by whites. Unless of course for some reason they can't find as many.
Just seems odd is all.

Do you know what a concern troll is?
Quote:Alternatively, a concern troll is someone who enters a discussion with a pre-formed opinion contrary to the majority opinion, but pretends to conform in order to subtly sow dissent and doubt without being called on it. Such attempts often begin with the troll raising "concerns" about the topic of the discussion, hence the name.

It never used to be like this. I wonder what might have given rise to all this crime and violence. Who told you that, Elon Musk?
"As of 2024, violence, burglary and car crime have been declining for 30 years and by close to 90%, according to the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) – our best indicator of true crime levels. Unlike police data, the CSEW is not subject to variations in reporting and recording.
The drop in violence includes domestic violence and other violence against women. Anti-social behaviour has similarly declined."

Everyone knows that crime is rising in the UK and why. Wow, you think you know what everyone knows? That's amazing, how did you manage that? Dear oh dear...
Do you really imagine your hyperbolic argumentum ad populum fallacy, will lend your lie some gravitas, when the research shows it is not just empty rhetoric, but very wrong?
Now why would that be I wonder?
"Despite significant decreases in crime over the past 30 years, most people in England and Wales believe crime is rising; Associate Professor Toby Davies and Professor Graham Farrell of the University of Leeds argue that while there are various reasons for the perception gap – including political rhetoric and media coverage – governments should be taking decisions on crimes based on evidence, not public perception."

Maybe they love rhetoric over facts, as you seem to?

Everyone knows that crime is rising in the UK and why. I don't.
Why is it rising? Be specific
"For the only way to eternal glory is a life lived in service of our Lord, FSM; Verily it is FSM who is the perfect being the name higher than all names, king of all kings and will bestow upon us all, one day, The great reclaiming" -The Prophet Boiardi-
