And what about Jesus movies? Are those also beating that dead horse or do they still produce something new?

Quote:‘The Carpenter’s Son’ Review: Nicolas Cage Raises Jesus in a Horror Movie

“The Carpenter’s Son” is adapted from “The Infancy Gospel of Thomas,” which depicts the messiah’s early years as a child as he discovers his supernatural powers. Nicolas Cage plays “The Carpenter,” FKA Twigs plays “The Mother” and Noah Jupe plays “The Boy” (Jesus).

Jesus is a young teenager, and like all young teenagers, he’s knee-deep in a rebellious phase and hanging out with the local troublemaker, in this case an androgynous goth kid who is obviously Satan (Souheila Yacoub).

Satan tempts Jesus with fun illicit acts like touching lepers and playing with wooden snakes. (Whee!) Joseph will have none of that, and throws Jesus in a wooden cage so he think about what he’s done. It’s tempting to say Joseph shouldn’t throw stones, since he’s making his money by carving false idols, but this is a prequel and “shouldn’t throw stones” hasn’t been invented yet.

If you could somehow remove the Biblical context of “The Carpenter’s Son,” the movie might work, since the whole thing hinges on whether Jesus Christ will use his powers for good or evil. Let’s just say there’s no way the ending could possibly be a spoiler. There’s no suspense because there’s zero chance Jesus is going to join Mephistopheles’ Brotherhood of Evil Messiahs. It just doesn’t work.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Ruby Rose blames 'cretin' Sydney Sweeney after 'Christy' flops at the box office

In a Threads post on Monday, Nov. 10, "Orange Is the New Black" alum blamed Sweeney for the film's lack of success, which centered around the openly lesbian former boxing pro, and also revealed she was initially in talks to star in the movie.

"The original Christy Martin script was incredible. Life changing," Rose wrote. "I was attached to play Cherry. Everyone had experience with the core material. Most of us were actually gay. It's part of why I stayed in acting. Losing roles happens all the time."

She condemned the comments Sweeney made following the low box office news. Sweeney reflected on how "proud" she was to tell Martin's story, adding that, "we don't always just make art for numbers, we make it for impact."

"For her PR to talk about it flopping and saying SS [Sydney Sweeney] did it for the 'people.' None of 'the people' want to see someone who hates them, parading around pretending to be us," Rose continued. "You're a cretin and you ruined the film. Period," Rose concluded. "Christy deserved better."

‘Something new’ isn’t the same as ‘something good.’ After seven films, watching dinosaurs chase people gets a little same-y.

But it’s not peculiar to the Jurassic World franchise. The whole reason behind ANY film franchise is to make money.

A Nicolas Cage movie about Jebus.

The only way it could get worse if it was written/directed by Tarantino...

I'm sure the widow of the Jurassic Park author is just sitting back waiting for the royalty cheques to roll in.

It's no surprise she gave up acting.

RE: Random movie news
This is rather strange news, I mean I haven't paid much attention to these movies lately, but it is strange that they pay much attention to the female casting because women can play only passive if not minor roles in these movies.
Unless she plays a woman exorcist, the biggest role she can play is of a possessed person who vomits on people and looks unattractive which, as a movie star, I don't think she's much interested in doing.

Quote:Scarlett Johansson To Star In New ‘Exorcist’ Movie From Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, Morgan Creek And Universal

Johansson’s involvement is a clear sign the studio is serious about this latest version in the franchise after the last film, 2023’s The Exorcist: Believer, underperformed with $65.5M U.S./Canada and $136.2M worldwide. This after NBCUni, Peacock and Blumhouse bought the rights from Morgan Creek for $400M back in July 2021. David Gordon Green, the director of that movie, withdrew from the next installment.

The film will tell an all-new story set in The Exorcist universe and is not a sequel to The Exorcist: Believer. It is produced by Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, Morgan Creek Entertainment and Flanagan — who also will write and direct — via his Red Room Pictures banner. Alexandra Magistro also will executive produce for Red Room Pictures. David Robinson produces for Morgan Creek Entertainment. Jason Blum and Ryan Turek serve as the respective producer and executive producer for Blumhouse-Atomic Monster.

Donald Trump is pushing Paramount to make ‘Rush Hour 4’ helmed by his sexual predator buddy, Brett Ratner, who lives in Israel and is friends with Netanyahu.

Brett Ratner sexually harassed Olivia Munn, Natasha Henstridge, Elliot Page (with Anna Paquin being an eyewitness to Page), and more, along with someone accusing him of rape.

Oh Brett Ratner is also mentioned in Epstein emails.

Quote:‘Rush Hour 4’ Greenlit at Paramount Following Donald Trump Push

The revival of the Rush Hour franchise after the president's praise highlights the growing intersection between political influence and Hollywood production decisions.

As traditional studios face increasing pressure from cultural and political figures, the greenlighting of Rush Hour 4 underscores how entertainment content may be shaped by external forces.

The project is expected to once again feature director Brett Ratner, who had previous ties to the franchise and recently completed a documentary on first lady Melania Trump.

There's a third Avatar movie coming out, and I haven't even seen the second yet. Plus, there are plans for more after this one.
