Would you let a psychopathic killer out of a straight jacket? Do you listen to yourself?

An excellent description of fundies throughout history.
And, FYI: they are running around loose. In your country, in your city, in your streets.

My mormon brother seems to need his beliefs in order to face each day. He has no talent for being happy in the real world, having failed to diversify his interests. I mean, how many times can a grown man go to Disneyland and expect to feel like a kid again? For his life as a moron kid to make sense he needs a sky daddy to lay down the law so that he'll know what to do.

Yeah, there is a point to it in limiting instability of one sort: Too bad it is counterbalanced by the utter insanities it creates as a byproduct.
It's been running its course for thousands of years, and it's not done yet, but there is no surgical solution.

I think JohnDG are talking about there may be potentially less destruction of mental disorder, so the such less destructive region of "mentally unstable" can be "lesser evil".
"I would go snap if I don't believe in god anymore." Isn't that statement a hysterical claims commonly made by theists, JohnDG? Besides, I'm a former Christian myself. I got depressed with my thoughts of death, but I didn't snapped and killed a lot of people. Maybe, mentally unprepared theists would go snapped if they abandoned god. But who says we got our morals, conscience and goodness from god, not humanity? We already knew how religion fucked the humanity badly. So, in my opinion, religion is an evil propaganda that limited and suppressed the one's potential goodness.
Witch huntings, homosexuality killings, stone-to-death methods, women rights abuse and repressing the progress of science with threats. Who else but theists? The less destructive region of mental disorder doesn't make it any good.

Since theism is a mental disorder according to you guys, I guess Francis Collins, Newton, Galileo, Kepler, Leibnitz, Planck, Mendel, Copernicus, et al. were all mentally insane. Theism is a delusional belief, nothing more. To claim it is really is no different from a theist saying atheists are mental. Are we really as stupid and childless as theists are?

Atheists are like teachers who written "F+" on Kid's math homework because of error answers like 1+1=3, 1+4=6. I'm not sweet-coat this one, the religious beliefs are, well, obviously stupid. The religious beliefs are no difference from the error answers like 1+1=3.
Childless? I don't see how "childless" word related to the mentality?

Child ISH. Spellcheck makes dumb substitutions sometimes but I would expect someone intelligent enough to claim theists have mental disorders to have understood that.
Tell me, what was the medication and treatment that corrected the mental disorder of Dan Barker? John Loftus? That is just to name two specifically. What cured the myriads of atheists that used to be theists? It is no better than a theist that claims atheists are mental to claim they are. Actually it is kind of pompous and arrogant.

Example:
"If I don't believe in god, then I'll punished by god!" -Christian.
Now, I'll state the one of symptoms of schizophrenia:
Quote:Symptoms of Schizophrenia
Symptoms vary greatly. Common symptoms of schizophrenia are:
Delusions: False, but strongly held beliefs, which feel entirely real to the sufferer. They can cause the individual to have a greatly exaggerated belief in his or her own importance, power, knowledge, abilities, or identity. Some people have delusions of persecution (paranoia)-for example, the false belief that they are being attacked, harassed, cheated, spied on or conspired against by others. Other people with schizophrenia believe that occurrences in the outside world are referring to them (ideas of reference). Examples are believing that other people are doing things because of you or that the TV or radio are referring specifically to you, often in negative ways.

We could debate how schizophrenia disorder may be or may not related to the one unable to distinguish the fiction from reality. According to the source, we could see the obvious similarities between of schizophrenia disorder and theists' mentality of their religious beliefs.
Is it arrogant and pompous to state the obvious disorder of theist' mentality? Maybe, but it's obvious truth.

BECAUSE they are religious,no of course not,(ad hominem) but religion seems to attract a lot of loonies. So does atheism. I mean, juts look at that appalling Pat Condell and his paranoia.
