As I clearly mentioned, what is YOUR evidence.

That was my evidence. I clearly explained what the passage by looking at the context and several other passages that state mosaic law.

Got any evidence?

The question minimalist asked was not about evidence, it was about the story.

No, the question was why didn't your fucking god kill Jeptha for frying his daughter which, and I really hate to break this to you, is what he did...if the story had happened at all, which it didn't, of course.

Again we see the apologetic mind which is capable of infinite self-delusion.

Jeptha vows to fry whatever comes out his door.

His daughter comes out the door.

He gives her two months to go run in the hills and then,

Quote:After the two months, she returned to her father, and he did to her as he had vowed. And she was a virgin.
There is no other "vow" in the story, son.

I really want to make this clear. Just because YOU make up some lame excuse for the plain language of your barbaric stories does not mean that normal people are going to be fooled by it. You are far too deeply invested in this holy horseshit. You need to get a life and find out why you are so fucking gullible.

Did you not read it? It may not be clear from your perspective, but you must put it into their perspective to understand it. Like I said, the vow was not about human sacrifice for several reasons that I listed. And let it be noted that at the end of the passage it said "and she knew no man." if she was sacrificed it would say "and she died" or close to it. Read my post and the link. You can't read this story piece by piece.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

What is your evidence for your appraisal of their perspective? Sounds to me like you're making excuses from your perspective.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

No, I'm explaining that the story is not about human sacrifice for several reasons. I listed all those reasons. If you want to critique them individually, go ahead.

I understand that you have tried to excuse your fairy tale by any way except the most obvious (that it is a fairy tale). However, I don't think you actually understand what a human sacrifice is to begin with, and I fail to see that you've demonstrated anything except that you have a fertile imagination. In a word....

Evidence?

If you are not willing to prove me wrong then my point stands.

Quote:Did you not read it?

YES I FUCKING READ IT

He's an apologist too...just like you. He's making excuses for his bullshit just like you are.

You are both blind because you oh-so-desperately want to believe that your fucking god is not just one more iron-age barbaric monstrosity.

You ( and he) are FUCKING WRONG. I do not need some apologetic asshole to explain the words to me. I can read them myself. You, obviously, cannot.

Now do you fucking get it?

This is simple shit....simple enough even for you. Jeptha makes a vow and keeps his vow. Figure it out.

It's not that simple. You take things out of context. You cannot read the beginning and the end to figure out the story.

I don't think you know what "context" means.

If you did, you would not try to shoehorn the beliefs of ignorant iron-age goat herders into modern life.

Wake up. The coffee is brewing.

I have no responsibility to prove you wrong, you must prove yourself right. You have to make your own case on something someday Chip. "I said it so it stands" is the way a child argues.

Evidence?
(you could demonstrate, just as one example, that this actually occurred, or you could demonstrate that you are presenting a perspective that is theirs, and not your own. Anthropologists do this all the time, but we all know how much you hate actual science..so I;m not holding my breath)
