I referred to Tack because they were actually a mod, so it blew this person's assumption out of the water.

I suppose they won't think so though with their no true scotsman fallacy.

Add to the fact that every christian you'll ever meet is the actual True Christian™ and all the others are the ones that are "clearly wrong."

Y'all are too funny. Actually, a truly devout Christian would not be on a forum like this. If they were, they'd work to get it shut down etc.

See, that is the whole problem with Christianity. So many want to say they are practicing the most true form of Christianity, when they really have no idea. To be a truly devout Christian, you follow the Bible to the word. You don't manipulate it in any way. That's what people don't understand.

BTW, don't twist my words. I didn't say true Christian, I said truly devout Christian. A truly devout Christian is one that devotes their life to the Bible and believe EVERYTHING in the Bible and follows EVERYTHING in the Bible. Sorry, but being on an Atheist forum debating God's existence would never even be allowed by a truly devout Christian. It would be considered heresy, and that person would likely be banned from their church.

Your ignorance is not my problem. If Christians take offense that there are actually people out there that are considered more "Christian" than them, that is not my problem either. Most truly devout Christians are shunned from society for their beliefs and actions.

Another funny thing is that really as long as a person believes in God and the teachings of Jesus Christ, they are considered a Christian. They can manipulate the Bible all they want and will still be considered a Christian if they believe in God and the story of Jesus Christ. That's really all that is required. You can not believe most everything in the Bible, but as long as you believe in Jesus Christ, you are Christian. There really is no true Christian as all Christians would be considered true Christians. I don't think saying someone is a false Christian would make much sense unless you could prove they were faking it and never believed in Jesus. However, then they would just not be Christian.

True christian/truly devout christian same fucking thing.

I don't see where you get off telling christians what a 'truly devout christian' is when they themselves, cannot agree on what a truly devout christian is. Funny that you seem to think you have the authority on what constitutes a true christian/truly devout christian without even being one yourself. Talk about hypocrisy and arrogance.

Ignorance? The only ignorance I have seen here is coming out of your own keyboard spewing all over the internet.

You really are quite arrogant as well.

Your definition of a Christian (or even a "truly devout" Christian) is very odd.

RE: How Should We Elect Staff?
NMF, I guess what it really boils down to is whether people want to believe that the staff is biased based on a relationship. As I can only think of one really tangible relationship among staff, I have to assume that is what this discussion is really about. Now, we are transparent enough that all of that is clear. I am not a mod because of a relationship. I have said "relationship" because I became a member of this forum. The forum came first. I was a mod for more than a year before I had even one private conversation with Tibs. There is plenty of evidence of that throughout this forum. I can even show you the thread where we "met." Hint: It was my first thread here. At any rate, I would be more than happy to bow down if this, for some weird reason, is not completely understood and accepted by the community based on all of the evidence at hand for it. I would prefer that over ending a very valuable romantic friendship because people can't seem to understand that said friendship does not involve me manipulating the owner of the site into keeping me on the staff. I would also prefer that to having a voting system that could potentially oust one of our staff members. I'm proud of the staff we have now. That's all I really have to say about the subject. Feel free to put it to a vote, but don't be surprised if the staff disagrees, given that they see staff conversations and see Tib and I disagree and agree without ever mentioning our outside personal interactions. About those, you can expect no transparency. No one here has earned a right to know about my personal life.

Just to clarify things here, I'm not a dictator. The staff vote on things; often times I have been on the losing side of that vote. I make the changes anyway since I believe in democracy.

There have also been times when I have been personally involved with a dispute, and so I voluntarily remove myself from the decision making process. If an issue arose with Shell's position as a member of staff, I'd likely remove myself on similar grounds; that I am involved with her on a personal level, and thus cannot be trusted to make unbiased decisions.

Thats one of the things I have come to truly respect about you Tibs. I know we don't see eye to eye on a few things, but in terms of a wonderful attitude to free speech, equality and fair moderation, you are unsurpassed in my experience.

Its one of the main reasons I would never put the staff to a vote, because I know you are motivated, above all other things, the interests of the forum.

Despite personal differences, I doff my hat to you gladly Big Grin
