Precisely. When meeting a new community, whether online or in the real world, most people start with an introduction. It's not a rule here, but it is highly recommended because it's just common courtesy to introduce one's self in any social circle. If our new member is feeling hostility it is NOT because he didn't introduce himself, it is because of the way in which he begrudgingly did it - as some kind of martyr being picked on. Which was simply NEVER the case.

Of COURSE martyrdom is his intended goal; why should we ever think differently?
I'm going to start challenging every credulous idiot who registers on this forum to prove to everyone that they're not attempting martyrdom.
