Well, pop-singers are like that. Our current pop-singers are very much alike, but they do even worse music!

Gaga is apparently extremely courteous to staff in hotels etc. She actually writes thank you notes to the cleaners and receptionists, as well as sending them gifts. When she came here, one of the hotel receptionists was on the news singing her praises, and saying how well she treated all the staff. The manager came on too and said she was the best guest they have ever catered to. So yeah, I can see why Indonesia wouldn't want such a morally corrupt person to enter their country.

Lady Gaga has a man-jaw and her friggin' cheekbones are waaaaay too damn high and pronounced.

Still. She doesn't make BAD music, exactly. I like some of her music. Poker Face was...well it was OK. Bad Romance? ...Yeah, I hated that one. Alejandro? Fairly decent. The one I REALLY liked from her, though, was On The Edge Of Glory. The music video was a good throwback to old 80s cheese, it wasn't ridiculously overblown and filled with supreme levels of bombast, and her singing in it? It was actually really good! If she made more music like that I would NEVER have a problem with her.

Alas she IS an attention whore...but then, she isn't malevolent about it, either...unlike the Kardashians whom I personally think should be hog-tied and publicly flogged every time they show their faces in public. Or Paris Hilton who largely has disappeared since her family cut her out of her inheritance and she can't party on their dime every fucking night.

But yeah. Banned from Indonesia? Fuck Indonesia, who CARES? Third-world sewage-smelling place full of towel-head sweater-monkeys; fuck 'em.

And that is my point. It wasn't even so much the government, but the government's fear of fundie nuts. It would have been the same if a city banned Elvis because of his hip gyrations.

It isn't like she was touring a sex show where it was a bunch of naked people having an orgy in public.

It just pisses me off the prudishness of humans. If someone doesn't like a performer, or for that matter, doesn't want to go to a strip joint, then don't go, but don't threaten the people that do and are doing it through consent where no one is getting hurt.

I am pissed off first, at the people in Indonesia who made the threats. And I am pissed at the government for bowing to the threats. But Ga Ga, like here music or not, like her costumes or not, did nothing wrong.
