can i try debate ?
July 6, 2012 at 9:02 pm
Hello.
I just came to this forum, I'm student, I'm just 17 and I want to have some talk over scientific view of how god is involved in our daily life or universe.
I'm atheist. I wish this debate goes in peace etc.
Keep it simple and I give religions a start.

If you believe in a creator god then everything that exists has eminated from him. Science isn't a study of god, but of everything that can be tested or proven using the scientific method. So science is a study of everything that god created.
If you don't believe in a creator god then science is a study of everything testable using the scientific method.

Surely a debate usually has an argument which either side are arguing for/against.
I'm not sure where exactly this 'debate' is supposed to go.

He stated that he thinks there is a "scientific view" of how "god" is involved our "daily life."
There is a flaw there.

You're reading him/her too literally Min :p. Put your English as a second language goggles on and you end up with a perfectly usual question from an atheist.

This may be the first time we've ever agreed
. But I think you're right.
Reworded, his question may be, "if a god exists, how is he/she/it detectable in our daily life?". This is a valid question to ask theists so the less gullible among us (those of us that require demonstrable evidence & valid logic to support our beliefs) may be able to test to see if said god's existence can be demonstrated.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
