In fact, I think many atheists would benefit from attending a few different church services as visitors/observers.

Such thinking capacity as all your mental defects have condescended to leave you is nullified by your bible.

Oh, don't worry. I tend to raise hell with them. (Ha. See what I did there?)

You can't ignore the people who disagree and pretend it makes you right.

Femme, by all means go to church.

Whilst sitting quietly in the pew, let out a series of thunderous farts. They could be followed by some loud guffaws during the sermon,or cries of 'bullshit!' at moments you deem appropriate. You could also experiment with combinations. Perhaps look at the lady next to you and say something like "Who does your makeup? Ringling Brothers?" or "that is ugliest baby I've ever seen"

You should be persona non grata by the end of the service. (not recommended in Texas, where you might become shot)

Lion old sock, are you aware that perhaps the majority of our regulars are former believers?

I was brought up very devout Catholic, went to only Catholic schools, mass every Sunday and holy day. I was reading Aquinas and "Imitation Of Christ " at 16 . At that time the class teacher,Brother George, described me as "the most apostolic boy in the class'" (of 46 boys) In fact,I was actually an insufferable little prig. It was at age 16 I began questioning some of the more fatuous Catholic doctrines, leaving the Church at 20. It took me 20 years of searching for answers before finally realising I simply no longer believed in god(s). My atheism is not a choice..

I hope you can understand why to me, your comment is patronising and rather insulting, although I accept that was probably not your intention..

PS thank you for defending me on the skeptics forum,it was not expected, and a nice thing to do.

If you're a minor there's not much you can do if your brainwashed mother wants to drag you to church. If it was me, I'd be asking her in a loud voice as we walked into the place, "Why do we have to waste our time worshipping an imaginary deity?". I would also sit there throughout the service looking completely disinterested and making comments under my breath that she could hear. I'd say things like, "That's bullshit" , "Where's your evidence to support THAT claim?", and possibly "How can anybody believe this crap?" Repeat as necessary until she decides to leave you at home.
Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.

God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems?

Well, if all is required of you to be physically in church, I recommend an MP3 player and some decent audiobooks Wink
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Whatever you do, don't brown bag whiskey in the back pew. They won't invite you back.
