I get depressed and don't go anywhere. I become a hermit. What about you?

What do you do when life gets you down
|
I'm retired. Life can't get me down.
Usually a hefty bowel movement makes life all rainbows, bluebirds and butterflies.
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

Drugs.
Alcohol is a drug, as a public awareness notice BTW. Slave to the Patriarchy no more
I used to isolate a lot. I still do. But it helps to talk with someone I trust when I'm feeling down.

I'll have to talk to someone I can trust. Lately I don't feel like I can trust talking to my family. Just dealing with some issues lately... I can't say I have any one response. I isolate a lot, but mostly because I'm shy and a loner and an intermectual. I drink, post on forums, chat on irc, sleep, listen to music, watch crime shows, collect photos, browse the internet. I read a lot these days, but usually in prep for a book club. I don't tend to read recreationally, depressed or not, and that gets me down. I think I'll have a drink. And put on some tunes.
And there is always masterbation.

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.
"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego." He continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too." The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?" The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed." Answering your question of "what to do when life gets you down": Don't feed the evil wolf who's responsible for negative thoughts. Choose not to be down about life. "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it" ~ Aristotle

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
