Hehe, that would be a pretty funny thing to do. Tell them that you want to formally swear, so they bring in a bible... then pretend to be offended and yell at them that you wanted to swear on the Koran Smile Priceless in the the supreme court ^_^ (And probably stupid, don't do it Tongue)

You should be able to swear upon whatever you think is the most impressive source of your personal worth and morality. Be that the Bible, Quran, Book of Mormon, Kama Sutra, The Theory of Relativity, The Origin of Species or The God Delusion So Help Me God/ Allah be Praised/ C'mon Baby Light My Fire Big Grin

'slip'? o.O What do you mean by 'slip'? Huh

If it were to slip, i would proceed to dump it down a hole, so that it will fall out the sky, and land back in me Joke

The concept of the human 'soul' is incompatible with metaphysical naturalism alone—which, although the most popular atheistic world view, is by no means the only atheistic world view. The qualitative distinction "atheistic" refers merely to deities; a person's world view can include things like souls and still affirm No Gods Required (atheistic). Metaphysical naturalism is not identical to atheism.

Why not?

It is more mass and volume. The air inside the balloon when inflated is pressurized, which means it has a higher density, so more mass inside its volume. Therefore the inflated balloon is heavier.

But aren't balloons as light as air?

My goals have changed and I have realized that there is no "winning" this battle and it would be more constructive to converse and learn rather than ridicule and argue. For the most part anyway...

Well the balloon is a trancendental balloon so is therefore outside the realm of science! Big Grin

I can't imagine that you are seriously ignorant of WHY a balloon with more air would weigh more than a balloon without air, but here goes:

It has to do with the molar weight of the components of air:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_co...ion_of_air

Quote:Composition of air (% by volume):
Nitrogen (N2): 78.09%

Oxygen (O2): 20.95%

Argon (Ar): 0.93%

Carbon dioxide (CO2): 0.038%

Others (less than 0.002% each): Neon (Ne), Helium (He), Krypton (Kr), Hydrogen (H2), Xenon (Xe).
[/quote

I'll talk about Nitrogen, which is the most common component of air and has a molar weight of 14.01 g/mol.

http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/HBA...degas.html

[quote]One mole of an ideal gas at STP occupies 22.4 liters.

So, imagine a balloon that is empty and weighed a certain weight then inflate with exactly one mole of Nitrogen. The resulting balloon would weigh exactly 14.01 grams more after inflation.

You did not present any evidence, nor was I aware of any. So I made the request. You see, my mind struggles to understand why "one mole of nitrogen" would weigh more inside a balloon than it did outside of it, for when you inflate a balloon, you are simply transferring molecules from outside the balloon to inside it. Nevertheless, I think leo-rcc made sense of the issue for me.
