I assume this is aimed at me.

I shall make put forward a few examples of religious choices based on faith and not fact.

1: Denying the work of Galileo on the position of earth in space.
2: The atempt by the catholic church to suppress the age of egyption arifacts because it contradicted the bible.
3: The persecution of hundreds of innocent women in the 14th and 15th century for witchcraft.
4: creationism and itelligent design.
5: persecution of women, forcing them to wear constrctive outfits. Submiting them to genital mutilation.
6: Honour killing.
7: terrorism in the name of god.
8: coming close to putting Sarah almost too stupid to live Palin one heartbeat from the whitehouse.

And finally

I remember seeing an old man being interviewed (by Fox I think), just before Bush JRs second election saying 'I'm gonna vote Bush, cos religious people just make better choices'

Spookily its the last statement that makes me the most worried.

I watch Fox in a kind of wide eyed horror.
But it can be funnier than the onion at times I mean have you seen Hannity the man with no neck.

But you seen to think that any bad act is by people going against their religion even when it states quite clearly within the text of the holy books that bad things are to be done to certain people.

To give one example, it clearly states in the Koran that the penalty for leaving the Islamic faith is death.

This is unequivical, evil and often carried out in middle eastern countries.

It is also not against their religion, it IS their religion.

RE: If there is no God....
I personally have no problems with Christians or anyone else believing what they want. But when they try to force those beliefs on everyone else claiming absolute truth and knowledge on matters of the divine then I get pissed off. When you bring up atrocities committed by Christians I love it when they reply that that was in the Old Testament and no longer applies. Or as my good friend fr0d0 likes to say they were going against their religion.

Matthew 5:17-19
17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Depending on how you interpret this Jesus did not make the law obsolete with his so called new covenant. In regards to the witch hunts they were just following the commandment of the Lord in Exodus 22:18 which simply states: "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live". If you try hard enough you can find justification for every atrocity known to man in the bible.

No, he interprets the scripture differently than you do Fr0d0. As it has always been the problem with any scripture. Anyone interprets scripture differently. It is just as arrogant for you to assume your interpretation is the right one as it is for Chatpilot that his is the right one. Or mine, or anyone else for that matter.

Not by a long shot would I call that interpretation... but I suppose it depends on your filter.

RE: If there is no God....
fr0d0 has his own interpretation of the bible, in fact he has his own bible which I am still dying to see.
leo I have been using that argument for years. The bible or any so called holy text is a matter of interpretation and it can be meant to say just about anything. This is one of the many reasons that I don't consider the bible or any other book the word of god.
