Bit of a long story Craveman - its been a long journey away from the RCC! Wasn't too sure for a long time where I was going with the religion stuff, but the more I found out and read, the more atheist I have become. Guess that somehow they get that stuff into you when you are too young to know any better, and its hard to shake it off!
Superstition, mere superstition!

It is hard to keep the reasonable stuff, strip away the bullshit and get it all in one go. I think of it like dandruff - it takes care and work to keep it at a minimum, knowing the proclivity for humans to draw baseless conclusions. I guess, by extension of that analogy, free thought is a good head of hair, well taken care of.

Yes, thats true! Although I left the RCC at 16 there is so much that you still have in your head! That there is something 'out there' worth praying to from time to time! Then slowly I learned rational thought and realised that it is a ridiculous concept, when you think logically about it! I tried looking into Pagansim (sorry Pagans) for a while, but that didn't seem real to me either.
I always thought that the OT was myth anyway, and began to listen to podcasts from various atheist groups that made me also realise that I agreed with them, that the NT was myth as well.
Liberating thoughts, and I thank them for it!
Nice to meet you all, and sorry if I am waffling!

I know how you feel stardust. I was raised a Christian child and was quite involved in Christianity for a long time. I even played guitar for our church band. My inner sceptic got the better of me and I started asking questions and very shortly after turned atheist.
Is wasn't easy and I'm still struggling with it all. Christianity is like a bad case of herpes, it keeps on coming back! So I still find myself doubting my decision(s) but I think that will fade in future. In the mean time I will keep on searching and asking questions...
Hopefully you can find your answers on this forum Enjoy your stay!
