I'm not sure what part of it doesn't make sense. As far as I know there is no standard practice for account removal. Some sites will purge user accounts on request, some will not. Nor do I see why it would make a difference. Is it really that hard for a person to walk away from a forum unless his access is deleted? What would stop that person from re-registering?
If it were an issue of privacy or data security, I could understand the request. This seems more like either "I don't like this place, could we cover my tracks so I was never here" or "Please save me from my irresistible urge to post here."
That's what doesn't make sense, IMO.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
