I have lived in the South all my life. I say "folks", I say "y'all". It feels really shitty when someone swoops in and stereotypes an entire subculture as "daughter-fuckers", particularly one that I grew up in. You're no better than the average racist by stooping to those kinds of verbal abuses. My father is/was a redneck and he's never touched me. You're flashing your ass, Germans, and it isn't pretty.

I find it pretty amusing watching the people that are preaching tolerance make prejudicial statements against other people.

I'm pretty sure the entire last page was just hating on southerners.

Must not mention poor spelling/grammar... Must resist the association of that which Germans is making fun of to his poor composition!

And why should I not when statistics show that these places are just what the sterotyps say that they are?

I am sorry if you feel offended, but I see no reason why I should not use a stereotype when insulting someone who behaves just like that stereotype.

I have given my opinion on the matter of tolerance before in various other threads:

Intolerance, does not deserve to enjoy any tolerants!

The people who would use the benefits given by a pluralistic society to destroy that very society, deserve nothing alse but to be persecuted and destroyed.

I will say, the little German that I am familiar with, gave me an idea of what you are saying. I personally can't wait to start learning the language of my grandparents. Also, my girlfriend is from Nuremberg... I hope she will help me out!

It's only a touché if English is the mother tongue for you both.

If I know that someone's first language isn't English I won't criticise their spelling and grammar, as they're doing a shit-load better at my language than I'd manage in theirs.

NO.

Very simple.

English is my second language and not my first, so bickering about my grammer is nothing but a pathetic escape out of a debate due to lack of argument.

And so far it has only be used for such a purpose on this forum against me.

Be the grammer nazi somewhere else!

My girlfriends mother language is German as well as my best friends, both speak and compose at an above average level.

This is irrelevant indeed. How long you have been practicing is what will have the bearing, as well as length of cultural immersion.

The point however, was not so much making fun of his composition skills as it was to point out that making fun of an entire subculture while making spelling and grammatical errors is incredibly entertaining and ironic!

I knew his first language isn't English which is why in normal cases I would give some slack. Most Americans I know aren't much better and in some cases are worse... which is pathetic IMO.

General rule of thumb: To make fun of someone or a group of people is to open yourself to scrutiny and criticism on everything you have said AND how you've said it :-)
