TOS all the way. TNG was nothing more than a space-based Scooby-Doo series. The others were more like soap operas.

In 2009 I took my then 19 year old daughter to the new Star Trek movie on opening day. On the way I related to her that this movie was bringing back the original characters. She lit up and said "cool, I love Commander Data". I dripped a painful tear.

I cried every time Deanna Troy, Wesley Crusher, Wil Riker and the bald Popinjay in the captain chair did not die.

The good thing about the TNG is it lowered my expectation for the franchise so much that none of the subsequent series and movies manage to give me any nasty shocks.

It's true that for all his Klingon glory, Worf not only got beat time and again on TNG, but he even got yelled at a few times by Sisko on DS9. It wasn't until the Jem'hadarr came into the picture that Worf finally got things together. I cheered when he finally beat the shit out of Gowron and nearly claimed leadership over the Klingon Empire.

Surely his cartoonishly one dimensional Khan must have lowered him a few steps in you eyes.

Next to Richardo Montalban's Captain Ahab Khan, Cumberbatch's thinner than X-men villian Khan is as flat as a cockroach squashed on the the surface of a neutron star.
