So what would you do if you got nominated for an award you don't think you really deserve? Just curious. I do some volunteer work and the organization nominated me for volunteer of the month but really I don't feel like I have been doing much lately and there are others who do like so much more than me. Like way way more. Makes me feel a little weird.

Be gracious.
I hear you, though...the military has a habit of dropping medals on people...often without merit. I have several that were head scratchers. Griping about it only made it worse.
If you balance it out against all the times when you worked thanklessly, it probably works out in the end.
As the Captain said, be gracious. You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis.
If you're awarded and are expected to make short remarks, you could always turn the spotlight on your colleagues, praising their efforts and expressing gratitude for working with such people.
But don't forget to first thank God, because with him all things are possible.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.
Those awards are mostly for the benefit of morale and to give people a sense that their efforts are being recognized. While I understand your feelings, it's probably to the benefit of all concerned if you just grin and bear it.
Or, ya know, you could just flash everyone:
