If there is no proof for something the default position should be one of disbelief. The only way to separate truth from delusion or wishful thinking is through science and I am of the opinion that science can work for anything that exists.
If someone says science can't touch it I automatically see this as an admission that it does not exist.

Your heart doesn't seem rested, so you're no proof of it. One of the things that amuses me about Christians is how many of them say God gives them peace and strength and all that, and how few of them show it. Although at least you don't seem particularly short-tempered and your insults have been relatively mild so far, so you're acquitting yourself better than most of our Christian visitors.

I'm late to this party, but I have to say that everyone is born an atheist you fool. If parents didn't indoctrinate their kids for 2 or 3 generations, the idea of religion would be dead or at least near it.
