I did the admin/moderator gig for a few years, back in the early 00s. You guys understand quite well why I won't do it anymore. Smile
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Preach it, Sister.

The serpent represented the Egyptian Pharaoh, who wore a headdress with a Uraeus rising serpent (cobra, asp) that symbolized the Pharaoh's absolute power and authority. http://www.landofpyramids.org/uraeus.htm

Egypt was at war with Assyria and Babylonia and various times fell under their control. Most people regard serpents as sneaky and treacherous so it was a clever way to take a dig at the Egyptian ruler for lying by calling him a serpent (which was on his headdress).

The Babylonian Empire was known as the “Garden of Eden” and the Egyptians were a disruptive force. Adam was a metaphor for the king of Tyre, who got kicked out by the Emperor. The tree of knowledge of good and evil might symbolize the adoption of foreign culture and religious practices.

Believe it or not, all of that is in the Bible.

I would have to respectfully disagree with that as the origins of the serpent in Genesis. Most of the imported things came from the Babylonian myth system. There is a myth of Gilgamesh and the Serpent, which fits perfectly with the rest on the imported material.
(Sorry this is so long).
There was a precedent for a snake (and plant) that conferred immortality.

I'm sticking with the Egyptian Pharaoh as the talking snake because Egypt was always an adversary of the Assyrians, Babylonians, and Persians. All three empires controlled Egypt at various times and the Israelites/Hebrews/Jews were always claiming that Egypt was the bad guy. Plus, as I pointed out, the Egyptian Pharaoh's headdress had a snake on it.

She's over trolling TTA the same way: Posted a thread about answering questions, accused everyone asking questions of being rude, before drive-by proselytizing in unrelated threads.

Jesus used to send his b-team to atheist forums. Now, we just get the c-team.

The a-team is doing His work lobbying the Texas legislature, advising certain pop stars, and at the Creation Museum in Kinpucky.

Maybe the b-team is assisting with rewriting those evilution text books in a more Godly, less-stupid-sciency manner?

What did she suspect to hear? Oh, you're rude. lol No, we're godless. We see irony in everything. You better expect to do better the next time. I got a question..

The bible says the earth is flat.. the bible says stars are going to fall out of the sky and scatter across the earth.. is this possible? I expect to see cosmology destroyed by reason, I guess.
I hate the bible. I love that do as thy whilst stuff.
