Totally NOT a debate about the veracity of the gospels

When "humans" are involved? EVERYTHING is suspect.

The bible is a guide book... for me anyway! The Holy Spirit has filled in the blanks.

As the bible says: "Faith is needed before true understanding is given."

So there is your paradox! You don't have Faith. So, true understanding escapes you, as well as all in that state of being.

If true understanding requires me to turn my brain off and accept demonstrably false things as truth, then you can keep it.

If you are arguing that the Bible may contain errors, but that doesn't invalidate anything in it, by what authority do you choose which parts are in error, and which aren't? And doesn't this give anyone license to pick and choose parts of the Bible that they want to apply? Isn't this a slippery slope?
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Thank you for ur honesty. . What is the holy Spirit? Can it be seen or just felt?

I hope you are being serious here! I assume you are, as "truth" is in your screen name.

The Holy Spirit has many manifestations. The main being LOVE.

So, it is felt. But can be seen in the eyes, and hearts of those who Love God.

Its hard to explain something that is spiritual in nature. Atheists think: "ghosts" and "spirits".... its not like that at all! Think more: "LOVE", "POWER", "INSIGHT", "PEACE".

Thats really the only visual I can give to a non-believer. For the believer? No words, or visuals are necesary!

I truly wish everyone could experience the Holy Spirit! But it is as elusive, as a Dove! That's why we, as believers have to keep close to Jesus! We want the Holy Spirit to stay! That is when we are most at peace.

The real truth.

You only need to capitalize the first word in a sentence in English.
The truth
The Truth
The real truth
The Real Truth

They're all the exact same thing you know.

The "real" truth according to Jewish people? Mormons? Muslims? Christians?

Truth comes from reality. Religion isn't built on reality. It's built on fear and wishful thinking.

Think more: brain, brain, brain!

Your brain produces these "feelings" that you attribute to spirits.
I understand it can be difficult to shift this attribution and many people never accomplish it... mostly by not being aware of it, but also by not desiring it... but do try, it's worth a shot.

For some perhaps... But I try to listen to God. Its what is "right"...not what someone tells you is right.

So, if you do whats "right"... you know you are doing God's will. Pretty simple! eh?

I don't stumble on words in a book. Especially if men wrote them. I do discern the bible. And I believe the Gospel as "true". At least the messages of what Jesus says is "right". I don't believe a mear man could've made that up!

There are just too many truths, and ironies to throw my Bible in the fiction section of my library!

But... what is reality? Honestly

Like - this we didn't know. I kinda pointed that out in the 50 page thread on preparing for discussion - or, perhaps, one of his other diatribes.

Remember when he was offering miracles for belief? When I gave him something I would truly regard as a miracle (ending of Malaria) he came back to ask me why I wasn't doing that, if it was so important to me.

The guy is fundamentally dishonest. Why do you think he manages those preparation for discussion threads - so he can get it on to a subject he is prepared for.

Not worth anyone's time on here - IMHO and all that.

If this is your view, and I respect that, then I should not expect you to be addressing me any further.

I wish you well. It was nice talking with you. Enjoy the forums! : )

Then in this case, it is what god is telling you is "right".
So it is someone telling you what is right.

Do you believe the Qur'an is the inspired word of God, ronedee?
Muslims believe so. Who is "right?"

Debating a Christian is like this:

Reality: 2+2=4
Christian "reality:" I believe it equals 5, don't know why, I just do!

Ugh.
