If they're not, we can't.
That's a big Bastard of a gnat. God doesn't / wouldn't make mistakes.
And yes people, I know there are bigger and more significant contradictions, but none so clear.
I think this best explains where you're coming from. I agree with your conclusions given this proviso. Inerrant to me never involved perfection as God directly authoring the bible. I regard the bible as so far inerrant - being the work of errant man.
Elaborate?

That's what I thought he meant... but can someone explain to me how the "inerrant version," or the deeper truths conveyed by man's fallibility, are so poorly communicated that Christianity hosts some 30,000+ different sects and denominations who can't even agree on how to interpret these "deeper truths"? Seems to me like God's a rather powerless and inept communicator.

that's when you were fun?
Lol, that was when I was smoking copious amounts of strong marijuana all day long.
I was "The" proverbial hippy....hair and all...
Some say Jesus himself was a hippie. Hmmm.
Regarding the Bible being the errant work of man. I have read that, and my 'interpretation' is that when the 'books' were compiled, there were sections left out, and perhaps tampered with. One would have to believe that 'sacred writings' existed in the first place, but let's say we all believe that, for a minute. Considering that the Bible was compiled many years after Jesus' death, stands to reason, the ''story'' got lost in translation along the way.
