Should I hide my atheism?
#31
RE: Should I hide my atheism?
It is not good for opinions to be atached to a name and then made public, I personally do what is best for myself, and if that means sympathising with theists then I have no problem going to church or pretending to pray. That doesent mean I believe the bullshit though.
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

"Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys" - P.J. O'Rourke

"Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren't." - Margaret Thatcher

RE: Should I hide my atheism?
I'm hiding my atheism from all of my family members, because I'd be dismembered if they found out. Personally I think it depends on the situation.

I think you are absolutely right about that.

I clear firefox, no bookmarks (memory is good enough), and my laptop is password protected. Thanks Big Grin

Good. A friend of mine had his laptop broken by his fundie parents who had enough intelligence to follow a guide on using the BackTrack with ophcrack to recover his password. They then discovered some atheistic material and a few other things.

Shit hit the fan.

Damn, that sucks. I'm pretty tech savvy, and even if they break the password (<.00001% chance that'll happen) there's nothing to find. I know how to hide things in such a way that no program can detect the material.

You see, this is why my passwords are all over 20 characters long. Breaking them by brute-forcing becomes infeasible on standard PCs.
