RE: Running
I've never liked running. Sometimes I'll try to walk more, though getting on the treadmill or elliptical can be the most boring thing in the gym. Just walking in place for a while.

Fuck you.

But nice job. Wink

Quote:First 14k felt pretty good, but then I started to get a little dehydrated, (I always have trouble getting enough fluids during my long runs.) and prepared myself to suffer through the last part of my run.

Do you run with a water bottle?

I have a little 12oz one with a hand grip you can loop over your palm, but you can get 20oz bottles - or however big the ones on bikes are, they're the same size. It takes a little getting use to having something on your hand like that, but I really like mine because it has a little pouch that I can keep my Shot Bloks in, or Gu if that's your thing (yuck).

Running water bottles (and belts) are stupidly expensive, but if you know someone that's handy with a sewing machine and you have a water bottle off a bike or something you could make your own hand grip for a couple bucks worth of elastic. Or just shell out the $20 and buy one - it's worth it.

RE: Running
Just set a new PR on 10k with 39:17. My previous PR was 39:52 so that's a pretty big improvement for me.

Hmm I think I am going to reward myself with some icecream Big Grin

I rewarded myself for running 7 1/2 miles last Sunday by taking this Sunday off.

Shouldn't've, but I did.

Training and an ambitious home improvement schedule don't go together.

Walking shouldn't count as exercise. I don't know what our country has come to.

Why wouldn't it? I know it's very basic and simple, but you don't need complexity to work out.

I agree with Chad here: walking is exercise whether you think it is or not.

When I was on my study abroad in 2007 I walked about 3-5 miles every day (around town, to and from classes, doing my shopping) and then there were excursion days where you would walk from St. Peter's bascillica, to the Spanish steps, to the Colosseum and back to our hotel).

I lost two pant sizes on that trip just walking.

RE: Running
My endurance has improved to the point where I am jogging nonstop for at least 5k. I would love to get back to jogging the 10k I managed in college.

I am unsure if I want to ever attempt a marathon, however.

I don't ever care to. In about three weeks I'm supposed to run a half marathon (13.1 miles) but I'm thinking I'll have to walk it since I've basically stopped training due to time constraints and other priorities.

I think I might be done with half marathons anyway, it's just not that fun to run for 2 hours. I'd rather do my 4-mile loop a couple times a week and call it good, but the thing about races is that it's a financial commitment that gets me to train. Not having that goal to train for or that event to look forward to, it's really easy for me to slack off.
