"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

I have come across this before. Apparently it is to burn off the methane produced?
It doesn't quite seem to have the desired effectl

I light matches when I shit in public. It kinda masks the sent of your shit. People would already know you were shitting because they can smell shit so the match smell just makes it easier on other bathroom visitors.

When he has gone to the bathroom, he burns matches in there. I assume it is in order to mask the stench of poop.
Great. Now it smells like poop and burnt matches in there. That is much better.
Maybe he's smoking crack?

No. I believe he just took a really bad crap; the kind that leaves you thinking for a while.

1)Methane is odorless so no help there.
2)There isn't a high enough concentration (thankfully) to sustain combustion of the diffused methane so only the little draft pulled through the flame will actually burn a very small amount of methane.
3) The stinky bits of fart gas are sulfur containing compounds like hydrogen sulfide and thiols and adding more stinky sulfur from the match seems a bit counterproductive. Maybe he is a homeopath?
All in all, sounds like a pretty useless behavior. Does he like the smell of burned matches?
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat?

Seriously people. Poo Pourri. It is the best thing I've ever encountered. You just spray some in the pot before you poop, and voila! it captures the poop particles in the turlet. Not 100% because there is some travel time from hole to water. This is science.
This is also my favorite post.

I'll probably spend the rest of the afternoon reading the comments in the review section.

"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I love Amazon reviews. People write some hilarious stuff in there.
This may be my fave: Kleenex 36-pack review.
