That's because they are quite similar to the Americans (US only).

Now I guess, both American and French will hate me Big Grin

Well I don't hate the French. In fact I spend very little time thinking about them at all.
They do have a cool accent.

Well it's ok to joke about this, but seriously I'm concerned about how French-bashing or French hatred is mainstream in the US. Because as far as I know this is xenophobia and this should be treated in the same way as racism. And if Howard Stern were to talk about black people the way he does about the French he wouldn't be such a celebrity. I really don't get this sort of double standard.

French-bashing in America is not to be taken seriously. We always find someone to make the butt of our jokes and, in recent years, it has been the French. It really began during WWII. That's when the 'surrender' jokes about France originated. Then, when we went into Iraq, France did not support us, and at the time, most Americans were still buying the lie. That's when the French jokes began in earnest. They are simply jokes. Before the French it was 'Polacks' (the Polish), though I have no idea why.

Yeah, but Bill O'Reilly never called for a boycott of Polish products...
And when I read in my previous link what Stern said on radio about the French, I really doubt that this is "only a joke", at least to certain people.

Yeah, I can see your point there. I can't explain it, but I can tell you that no one takes Howard Stern seriously. In fact, very few people even hear his show anymore now that he is exclusively on satellite radio. Unfortunately, a large portion of the stupid do take O'rly seriously.

I've been a fan of Howard Stern for about 12 years now. I, along with 6 million others, followed him to satellite radio. It has been a pleasure listening to him for all these years and he has only gotten better on satellite. As for what he says about the French, or anyone else and believe me there have been others, he is just voicing an opinion he has at the time for pure entertainment. I am not offended by anything he says because he is saying it for shock value and to get people to listen. It works.

I was surprised when I only recently discovered that Paris is the riot capital of Europe.
