Should i "come out of my closet" to my parents

RE: Should i "come out of my closet" to my parents
Ahmad, I'm removing your name from your OP for safety reasons. DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR REAL NAME EVER.
We have active Muslims from your area on this board alone.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Sure i understand and thanks for the tip! i didn't really think about what would happen if i put my name i just typed it. i always do that so its became sort of a habit to me. but do they really track me via the internet? i never heard any stories of it.

EDIT
You've gone incognito. Pages you view in incognito tabs won't stick around in your browser's history, cookie store, or search history after you've closed all of your incognito tabs. Any files you download or bookmarks you create will be kept.

However, you aren't invisible. Going incognito doesn't hide your browsing from your employer, your internet service provider, governments and other sophisticated attackers, or the websites you visit.

yup im doomed...

You're in saudi arabia and you're thinking of telling ur parents ? HOLY SHIT !!!

Don't you even think about it, even if you're financially independent in saudi arabia , don't even tell your cat .

Never trust a cat.

i had a cat and a dog! but my father threw them away because he said they are "unclean". i think what he actually meant was they are costing too much money. you ask where did he threw them away in the street!
i was 9 when that happened i cried for a week! phew glad i didnt tell my cat. shes a real talker that cat.

my chances are probably good as my lowest grade i got was a B+ in islam.
yes they really do force every school to teach it.

First up, don't worry, your English is fine (better than many native speakers, in fact).

I know it's difficult to live a lie, especially for atheists in a religiously dominated culture, but in your instance I would suggest keeping quiet about it, at least initially.

Bring up atheists with your parents, without saying that you are one, and see their reaction. That will give you some indication of how they will react.

I know there's a growing number of atheists quietly living within Saudi, and indeed, Muslim society (if the reports I've read are correct), but when the country indentifies atheists as "terrorists" it might be prudent to remain silent for the time, until there's a cultural shift - and indications are there's such a shift slowly going on behind the scenes in the Muslim world - at least I hope so.

i did bring up what he thought about them here is how it happened.
we where watching football/soccer and then my brother ask my father whats that player religion as he likes to know all of their beliefs he then says nothing he is a stupid atheist and when i heard about that i asked him Why? he says: atheist are stupid ignorant humans who don't read about Islam and are satanist.... as i was completely shocked i quickly said: yeah you are right. and then everything continued normally, but that moment was completely shocking and i should have probably mentioned this in the post.

You might consider using Tails. It's an operating system you can use from just about any computer from a flash drive. It won't leave any traces on the computer unless you explicitly tell it to. It operates through TOR. There's a Wikipedia article about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Amnesi...ive_System It is freeware. Just don't leave the flash drive laying around.

I'm thinking laying low in Saudi Arabia is an excellent idea, but I might add an idle musing;

what if 95% of the ruling family, and 2/3 of the public is on the 'down low' too ??

I wouldn't unless you are a million percent sure they share the same views as you. Since you aren't sure, you only suspect that they might be sympathetic, then don't tell them. You don't know whether the indoctrination they have received will overpower their loyalty to a friend and simply hearing that you have doubts might be enough to make them tell someone and then you're sunk. Don't assume that just because they don't pray 5 times a day and because they have friends that are female that they automatically agree with you. Indoctrination is a powerful thing. Be very careful how you proceed.

As others have said, it's probably best to not tell anyone anything until you're financially independent and, hopefully, out of the country where your safety is less of an issue if you do come out.

Pipe dream. But an interesting thought experiment.
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.

Absolutely not. That is the great thing about being a person in touch with reality. There is no invisible sky daddy to answer to when you pretend to be something you're not to protect yourself. Especially in a country that criminalizes free inquiry.

Best bet is to get out when/if you can. Study hard, Become someone who can make enough money and has value in places other than Saudi Arabia.

Worst thing you can do is to put your fate in someone else's hands. Especially people who believe what they do about the afterlife/atheism.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

OK! i good dat good news now.as almost all of you told me to go shhhhh and as im arrogant like a stone and told my friends ,bbuuuuut i kinda tested them.
you see my friend the untrusted one who always does big stupid pranks on me did this nasty nasty prank on me almost a year ago he basically told me his mother was dead which she is obviously not.so i decided its revenge for me and see how will they react.as the both of them (the pranker and the loyal that's what i call them atleast) are Muslims and i cant tell them i am an atheist having the scary part was they could report me no matter what. so i decided im gonna prank them like they never prank me before. im said this to them:ok ffffff i got something to tell you guys. im leaving Islam. first thing i heard was absolute silence from them so i continued. i explained why i was leaving islam and becoming an atheist.final results shocking loyal friend was all accepting and such he even said i was thinking of that too.and so we became much much better friends. as for the second one the pranker he said
YOU KAFER, I CANNOT BELIEVE THE WORDS YOU SAY. then he said i cant stay with you anymore and so he left the house. when he left i told my friend that it was all a "real prank" and i was seeing your reaction sense that awful prank he did to me. as you were accepting and he shocked till death i decided to tell you. as for him lets see the next day maybe he is a little too shocked.Next Day:calling him on the phone he said to me that you are ruining our friendship as i heard that i completely said no it was all a prank for your devil prank you dog... he said phew i was actually hah ok let me rest for a second call you later.....tooooooot.

So?results where completely shocking as i said over and over again.sometimes i just think that was a really bad idea thinking that a friend could kinda betray me and think of me as an insult to his religion and friendship. while the other HAH we are great friends now atleast i know who to trust now that's an upside.

alright guys have a nice day and thanks for reading!
