I'm pretty sure the fact behind his point is that the Muslims kept many of the discoveries of ancient Greece alive, and brought them to Europe -- not to mention, they imported the idea of zero from the Indians.

'Daddy long legs' have an EXTREMELY lethal venom, but they also have soft fangs (and not much of a propensity to use them) so they aren't dangerous to humans.

Still, my sister HATES HATES HATES them and wastes considerable money on bug sprays every year to control them.
