Hello everyone

My name is Lambert and this is my first post here. I used to frequent the Internet Infidels and kind of learned what atheist are all about.
So I am a Catholic and I always thought that they never become an atheist but just quit going to church. Does that make sense to anyone here?

No it doesn't make much sense to me. Atheists are people who don't believe in god. I am one. I'm sure there are people who believe in god but don't go to church too, but I don't much care.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

As for deCatholicifying oneself, seems like there is a list here of things you can do to get the bell, book, and candle routine, just can't find it right now.
Seems like as an atheist forum, that otta be pinned in the intro section, but it ain't.

Welcome aboard, Lambert.
What you describe sounds like what we call non-practicing Catholic.
That's the label that the priest gave me, when I married my wife...for bureaucratic purposes, seeing as I was baptized when I was 6 months old.
