It is 2015 on this planet, no need to "ponder" anything. I think climate change and pollution and world poverty are far more important to our species right now than what number we go by as far as year.

Do you mean Seasonal year, Calender year, Fiscal year, Academic year, Julian year, Sidereal year, Tropical year, Anomalistic year, Draconic year, Full Moon cycle year, Lunar year, Vague year, Healical year, Sothic year, Gaussian year, Besselian year, or just an ISO-80000-3 year?
