True, but I still like to lump them into the same category because, at the end of the day, there's more difference in the costume than in the theology. With one you get burned at the stake as the priest cries, "die heretic" and the other you get your head cut off while the mullah screams "death to the infidel". Like it or not DBP (and anyone else) that's the way it is. Of course Christians existed before that, but that's the accepted qualification. Of course you are at liberty to say what you want... if it floats your boat then why not.

Many ppl call themselves Christians even though they are clearly not. Many Christians disagree on creeds but are still Christians. Baptists are Christians.

Yeah, one could make a whole taxonomy of religion. designations designations... To me all that believe Jesus existed, beeing the son of god(or embodiment w/e) and resurrected is a christian.

Which boils down to there is no concencus on what a being a christian means.

As a secular definition of something wooly and atheist, yeah sure, you can be as non specific as you like. However, if you want to know what actually defines a Christian according to Christianity itself, then you can't plead ignorance.
