The Road to Glendale: NFL Playoffs discussion

RE: The Road to Glendale: NFL Playoffs discussion
Yeah, I think Dallas got robbed. He had control (shifted the ball from right to left hand) and made a football move (pushing off on his left leg to reach for the end zone).

Oh well, if it comes down to one call, you probably didn't deserve to win anyway.

I don't like the call, but I don't have time for the fans down here still crying about it. Rats, Ryan, and the others have it right -- if the game's that close, you're not doing it right anyway. Man up, plan for next year, and make sure you can't be beaten because of one play.

This. My dad still occasionally bitches about bad calls against Seattle in Super Bowl 40. Seriously? There was at least one scoring play that was a bad call, but some level of subjectivity is necessarily part of the game. They didn't routinely review all scoring plays back then, they do now. I'm a die hard Seattle fan going back to the 1970s, but every time I hear a fan whine about that, I die a little inside.

As far as the Dallas call goes, if it's called a catch on the field, I don't see the "conclusive" evidence needed to overturn it.

But either way, shit happens, and it happens to everyone. Bring a better game next time and a single bad call won't matter.

"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

What a game. That TE Burnett will have nightmares for ever.

You mean the second half of the fourth quarter, right?
