Today, we have lots of people to replace the snake.
All you have to do is watch the Super-bowl half time for the last 2 years. It's right there in your face.
Or any number of imams, or some Vatican spokesman, the big list goes on an on.
but I will get back on topic.
The tree was simply a test. Notice the snake led them to the tree of knowledge.
He does the same thing today.
Knowledge rather than Life is very popular in the cults.
All the BS of "Hidden knowledge" / "Secrets", that only the intimates receive- like a carrot dangled out before the horse and when he gets it- he finds it wasn't the whole thing, so more carrots are dangled out.
He spends a lifetime pursuing and the devil hopes he dies trying to find all the fake knowledge and never comes to the truth.
An "I gotcha" realized.
I see the same thing here.
No, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was a test, the devil was the teacher, the students failed miserably.
But the tree of Life is still beckoning- only from Heaven.
I have read this four times now and sitll have no idea what your point is.

So animals get a choice as to whether God's fallen archangel uses them for a ventriloquist dummy. Really, professor?

The story says that the serpent was more crafty than any other animal. Even before Satan went bad and Adam and Eve sinned, the fucking animals were misusing their free will!

Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Tonus, THAT was worth reading this whole thread.
OK Xeno, I will give this a shot- The devil deliberately inspires people to seek knowledge rather than God (in whom, and in relationship to, is Life.
The occult organizations, including the Masons, and various religions are the vehicles to entrap people into this never ending seeking of knowledge.
It is the same ploy he used on A&E.
The JWs left a little booklet on my door once a long time ago, it said (supposedly quoting the New Testament and Jesus' words- "This is eternal life- that they may know about thee..."
All the snake's helpers did was add one single word to totally change the meaning- They added the word "About".
Substituting superficial knowledge instead of vital personal relationship.

Why is god so against knowledge? Has it not occurred to you that perhaps the author was trying to keep the reader from learning that the whole thing was made up?

For A&E, there was no knowledge of evil- a blank slate, so to speak, they only knew good.
The choosing of that tree brought the knowledge of evil via rebellion.
(it was God's Eden, God's earth and God's people and God's order, thus it was a rebellion).
We could say disobedience, which is carries a lighter tone to us, but is the same thing.
After having success with turning the first couple to the pursuit of knowledge, the enemy uses that same tactic, only channeling (also a word describing an occult practice of demonic influence) the attention of people to the achievement of greater states of knowledge while NEGLECTING the giver of life.
That is what I mean.
Having a broad understand of things is great, but if that is all there is to life, the most important thing is undone.

So the pursuit of knowledge is evil?
