His plan is to ensure that his body is not too decomposed, which means that you will to be able to do that. And his plan would ensure that there is enough gold such that we can be certain that someone will dig him up. Whether they decide to bugger his corpse or not is unknown.

One type of funeral I would consider but I'm pretty sure it's not allowed in the US. It's called a Sky Burial. Looks like I can't provide a link since i"m a new member. Google "Sky Burial".
From Wikipedia: Sky burial (Tibetan: Wylie: bya gtor, lit. "bird-scattered"[1]) is a funeral practice in which a human corpse is placed on a mountaintop to decompose while exposing to the elements or to be eaten by scavenging animals, especially birds of prey.
I kind of like that my body would directly feed animals.
The type of funeral would be to have my body cremated and the ashes mixed in with gun powder. That gun powder would be used to make one fireworks shell. Have family & friend gather where that shell will be fired. After a brief ceremony the shell would be shot off. You literally go out with a bang then your friend and family can go party. I vaguely remember there's a guy in Pennsylvanian that makes this kind of shell.
Yes. Yes. Zathras is used to being beast of burden to other people's needs. Very sad life. Probably have... very sad death. But... at least there is Symmetry.

My wife has instructions to cremate me and then I want family and friends to get together a few weeks later after everybody has had time to process what has happened. By that time, I hope they can laugh and have a good time, listen to music, and remember me and my life. Of course, my ashes will be sitting in a vase watching all the proceedings - all like, "Aunt Joanie, really? That dress at my life celebration? You slut."
At my house with no droning preacher, no drab funeral home with their intentionally depressing music, and no people dressed up in a way that I never see 'em normally. That's the way I want it.

No fuss required.
This. I'll be a corpse. No monument required. Just throw a small party for my dearest friends to reminisce about what a cantankerous asshole I was.

My father died at age 92 and my mother is going strong (if a little batty) at 91 so I should last a while longer yet, but as I drive around 5000 miles a month I think a car crash is the most likely way I will go.
I have told people that I want a non religious funeral with the cheapest coffin available (no point wasting good drinking money on worm food)
I was thinking of having them play Hugh Laurie's "Changes" from his Didn't it rain CD and then as people leave "Always look on the bright side of life" by Monty Python.
I am looking for other suggestions of music, readings or just ideas to lift the gloom. I want something to celebrate life not dwell on death
Isn't it cheaper to get cremated? Not that you necessarily want the cheapest funeral, but the part about "cheapest coffin available" makes me think you'd want to be frugal with this.

If people want to make a fuss then I want a Viking funeral.
Set me adrift in a boat and set it on fire.

There is an outdoor lab that could do something similar to a 'Sky Burial' in Michigan. They do forensic studies of cadaver decomposition to support law enforcement. Some are entirely exposed, some hidden in various vegetation, some in shallow graves, some in cars, etc. all to earn how to investigate unfortunate actual murders and accidental deaths.
This is a variation on donating your body to a medical school.
