Logic and emotional undertone are not mutually exclusive. I don't think an argument should ever be dismissed based purely on the latter. Emotions accompanying the debate are irrelevant to the validity of arguments made.

Exactly. As a writer, when I put together a persuasive piece, I have to have solid reasoning, to be sure -- but deploying rhetoric, and emotion, and analogy and metaphor, those are all part of the craft of language, be it written or spoken. Those elements do not detract from a solid argument, nor do they rescue a weak argument.

I'm not disagreeing with that as a general rule of internet forums but if someone specifically invokes logic then emotion is irrelevant, that doesn't mean it's not entertaining when it does show up.
