Before i take in serious consideration what the physical science say i take in serious consideration what my spiritual teacher say.
Physical science can only understand physical phenomena which (according to yoga) are the mental projection of the cosmic consciousness so why should i give more importance to the product of a thought rather than the one who create the thought?
In any case it is YOU that state that the pineal gland is only made of physical stuff.
Physical science has not yet come up with any definitive truth about the role of this gland.
