As opposed to me, complaining that the weekend wasn't long enough and not too thrilled that I have to go back to work again on Monday morning and start the routine all over again. Not what I had planned for myself at my age.

where did the weekend go?

Even worse: your family can have variation hair color. Genetics is weird. My brother's hair started out dark and then lightened considerably. He has the lightest brown hair out of all of us. Mine is probably darkest, but when I spend a summer out in the sun, it gets a lot of red/copper/amber highlights (we have red-heads in the family). My sister's is a mid-chestnut.

My maternal grandmother had dark, dark brown hair. My maternal grandfather had brown hair so light it was nearly dirty blonde. My paternal grandparents were blackhaired (I think) and blonde. My dad's hair was nearly black. My aunt's hair was blonde. My cousin is as blonde as a nord, but I'm dark.

I still don't know where the freckles came from.

I know it can be tiring when people post pictures of their kids, but we finally had my daughter's 8th birthday party we've been planning for a while.  It went great, and everyone had fun. Mine is the little blonde in the first picture.

We went shopping in Diagon alley, and everyone got a (home made) spell book, wand, robes, quill, potion kit and more.  Then we sorted the kids and let them color their own house ties.  After that we had potions class, then dueling club, then lots of treats (including homemade cauldron cakes and licorice wands and butterbeer, though we did buy some Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans and Chocolate Frogs, because novelty candy is just so fun!).

Anyway, it was a lot of work and planning, and it went well, and my kid is happy, and so am I, so I just wanted to share a few pics.

Wow! Aroura that is amazing! I never had a birthday like that. Mine were Tony's cardboard pizza and knockoff Sam's Club soda. But I had a pool and a summer birthday, so it kind of made up for it.

Alright, which one is your daughter and where are you for comparisons? You throw a great kid's party!

Thanks guys.  Mine is the blonde in the first picture.  I'm not in any of the pics except from the side or back, lol. My daughter looks like my husband anyway.  But here is a recent one of me at a girl scout meeting, I'm the short lady int he middle with the redish-blonde hair.
