The Kinder God of the New Testament

RE: The Kinder God of the New Testament
But Wyrd is right. Those 5,000 people weren't starving. They'd come out to hear the man talk. So feeding them was an act of hospitality not compassion on the poor. I know of no instance of Jesus going out to feed people who really were destitute.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.

I may defend your right to free speech, but i won't help you pass out flyers.

Rhonda! Did you just invent a word? "Who're"

It looks like a whore with something between her!
I know you're trying to say "Who are", but how do you pronounce the short version of it?

But because he is so demanding of worship, the prayers he receives daily is not even enough to get him out of bed in the morning.  That's why it only "seems" like he doesn't exist! We're just not trying hard enough, therefore not worthy ... I'm cool with that.
We couldn't get that sucker out of bed if every human on Earth prayed incessantly for 100 years. There'd always be something else and more we should've done.

I think you're right. He's been randomly killing us and listening to us grovel for mercy for 2000 years now. He must be bored stiff with the whole thing. We need a new angle.

No, that's not made up.

There does seem to be something stuck in your mind, and it's not an apostrophe.

I like Pierce Anthony's theory on it in his Incarnations of Immortality series. He shows that since god is so good he cannot look on evil. And since he is the only thing in the universe good enough for him to look at, he is trapped in a narcissistic contemplation of himself and cannot see anything beyond his mirror into which he gazes eternally.

Of course the even bigger miracle would be that 5,000 peasant farmers could take all that time out of their busy, subsistence-based, life to go listen to some jackoff ramble on about shit.

Quote:Revelation 8:7
The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.
Revelation 8:8
The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood,

Revelation 8:9
a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

Revelation 8:10
The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water--

Revelation 8:11
the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.

Revelation 8:12
The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.

Revelation 9:15
And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.

So, kinder, more gentle Jesus returns to earth and he is pissed. Why? Who know? Some people claim that the ability of two men to enter into a legal, loving relationship will piss him off in a way that all the rapes, child abuse, slavery and murder hasn't been able to do in all of human existence. He destroys a third of humans that would include babies and children.  How is this a better god than the one in the OT?

The first four chapters of the book of revelations tells us why the end has come.

In essence the world at large is beyond corrupt/beyond salvation and now the '7 churches' or 7 recognized brands of Christianity have also been corrupt (all except one) and the start of the tribulation is to waken the last of those who can be save into being saved.

In short the world is spinning out of control and even the one thing God put here as a beacon of light itself has been corrupt and given enough time 'we' would all be unrepentant sinners.
