You know, I don't really think Trumps views are that different than most Republicans. It's just the way that he expresses them that's different. I'm not really following politics very closely right now, so I could be wrong, but does he have a view that is radically different than the other Republican candidates?

Well, calling immigrants "rapists" seems like it's at the small end of the bell-curve. He's also said that he'll make Mexico pay for a border wall, which is a unique and unfulfillable promise.

I think calling immigrants rapists isn't a political point of view. I don't think Donald Trump has particularly unique or extreme political opinions. I guess you could say having Mexico pay for a wall (something that will never happen anyway) is a slight variation on building a wall. There is a wall between most of the border already anyway. It's a pretty secure border, certainly the most secure one I've ever crossed and I've crossed plenty. It's also not really a controversial position. 51% of people want to build a wall. He just has a way of expressing them that is out of the mainstream for politicians.

Oh, and I am going to take this moment to say that while I may seem like I'm defending Donald Trump here, I am not. I am just stating what is actually extreme and what is not. I think a wall it totally silly. It represents a 2 minute delay to illegal immigrants on their trip to the US.

Totally wrong.  The money wing of the party is shitting a brick because Trump doesn't need them.  Unlike the other turds who are owned by one billionaire or another Trump can tell them all to go fuck themselves.  He's still a fucking douchebag who thinks this is some kind of a game but the GOP's elites are not at all happy about him coming along and pissing on their parade.

I think my main problem with him is that he's also a conspiracy theorist. I really question his rationality. I don't think he has a good understanding of economics, foreign policy, constitutional law, or much else really. Also he whole credentials as a businessman are bogus, as Min points out. He's lost more money than he's gained and taken advantage of crooked bankruptcy laws for billionaires. That's really why I made this thread, to try to reason out why he is politically popular with some people despite his obvious non-qualifications. I think the distaste of many people for political correctness is at least part of it.
