I've always tried to hold some degree of—for lack of better word—respect (and by that I mean I just don't speak out much about how anti-religious I feel) for religious individuals, since challenging their beliefs seems to shake so many of them to the core, but this puts the nail in the coffin for me. Fuck it, I'm going to be outspoken about being anti-religious. I have yet to see any real benefits of religion, but it sure does a hell of a lot of harm. The world would be far better off if religion disappeared.

I will say this - as much as I disagree with her convictions, she is at least standing by them.   Likely to her detriment.

I think that no matter what we may think of her opinions, we can give her a certain amount of respect for standing firm on what she believes is the right thing to do - no matter how wrong we may think she is.

I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!

Really, I've modified and used it here in the past.  Extremism in defense of Biblical Inerrency is no vice, moderation in pursuit of Biblical Literalism is no virtue!!

The bitch can't be fired.  It's doubtful if the State legislature has the balls to impeach her.  This is going to be so funny when the muslims insist that Islam forces them to act like assholes.  The rednecks will be whining like babies then.  This is going to bite the American Taliban in the nuts when the chickens come home to roost.

The State Legislature doesn't necessarily have to impeach her; the ACLU has filed a motion of contempt against her.

The American Civil Liberties Union and the American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky today filed two motions with a Kentucky district court to hold Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis accountable for her continuing refusal to issue marriage licenses to couples in the case Miller v. Davis.

The motions ask the court to hold Davis in contempt of court for failing to comply with its previous ruling and to clarify that Davis must issue marriage licenses to everybody, not just the four named couples in the case. The court set a contempt hearing for this Thursday, at which Davis will be required to answer to the judge for her violation of the order and could face steep fines.

Can an elected official guilty of breaking the law they are meant to follow and uphold be elected for anything?

The bigoted pizza shop assholes in Indiana made a pretty penny thanks to Christians donating to them for supposedly standing up for their principles. This bitch will make serious bank if she has half a brain (debatable).

Jailing her just makes her a celebrity martyr for the “war on Christians”, just what her handlers want. She is a pawn, a stupid pawn obviously but still, just a pawn. Faux News alone will collect millions of dollars in ads while running endless, breathless stories about the gentle Christian lady / clerk sitting in a cell somewhere because of “her faith”.

A better deal, I think, is for the Judge to impose an escalating fine for every day she refuses to do her job. $1 day one. $2 day two. By the end of a month the fine is more than half a billion dollars. Even if her “supporters” start out covering the cost for her, even they will choke at those numbers. But, a month from now, the news cycle will have forgotten completely about her. She will be bankrupt and utterly discredited, but she will not be a “cause celebre”.
